The aim of this study was to develop a model for sports talent identification in the Iranian education system. The present study was based on the applied method,in terms of qualitative methodology using data foundation theory, based on the emerging method. The statistical population of this study consisted of15 experts(university faculty members, heads of sports federations, heads of talent identification committees,Deputy Minister of Physical Education and Health of the Ministry of Education and sports coaches).Sampling was purposeful and continued until the interviews reached the stage of theoretical saturation.Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The validity of the study was confirmed based on four criteria of validity, verifiability, reliability and transferability. Reliability of 85% was also reported. The analysis of the findings showed that the sports talent identification model in the Iranian education system includes three stages:1)basic capabilities,2)structural capabilities, and3)the consequence of talent identification. In general, barriers to talent identification challenge the talent identification process. It is suggested that these barriers be removed. To research such a goal, having a principled program for talent identification, presenting a comprehensive plan for talent identification and allocating sufficient and sufficient financial resources for talent identification and establishing a constructive relationship between the institutions in charge of talent identification can be effective. Also, due to the fact that the talent identification process is a complex,time-consuming and costly process, and ultimately it is necessary to have the desired outcome,it is suggested that the stimuli that facilitate this process be further strengthened. For this purpose,it is necessary to use the experiences of countries with style.
