The purpose of this study was to study the challenges of developing smart sports tourism with IoT in Iran with an interpretive structural modeling approach. The present study was a field research in terms of applied purpose and in terms of data collection. Considering the main purpose, the research method was a qualitative method (data theory of the foundation). The statistical population in this study included university professors familiar with the Internet of Things (who had conducted research in this field), IoT experts in the IoT Center of Iran, as well as some tourism and sports tourism managers who have experience in using the Internet of Things. Using purposive sampling method and theoretical saturation technique, key informants (including 20 people (selected to identify the model framework and interviewed with them semi-structured) with focus groups (performed and challenged) were performed. The development of smart sports tourism with the Internet of Things in Iran was identified and then interpretive structural modeling was used as one of the consensus methods. The results showed that according to Figure 2, management and infrastructure challenges In the link zone, culture and technology in the dependency zone, economic, political and attitudinal challenges are in the independent zone, so the elimination of link variables (management and infrastructure challenges) should be on the agenda of the country's sports tourism managers.
